Regina Early Learning Centre

Dear Families, Community Members, and Supporters,

Regina Early Learning Centre (RELC) is committed to providing high-quality early learning experiences while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our organization so that we can continue serving children and families for years to come.

On June 23, 2026, RELC received notification from the Ministry of Education that a conversion of our current preschool spaces into licensed childcare spaces is approved. With this we have gained access to long term sustainable funding.

The Board acknowledges that this decision may not be well-received by all. The board peruses the same values and vision of RELC and what it means to the community. To achieve those ideals the financial health of the organization must be a priority.

This changes a program that has been deeply valued by families and community members. We recognize that this create questions, concern, and mixed perspectives about what is most important to preserve and strengthen within our services.

This decision makes it possible to have:

• Full-time licensed childcare spaces
• Access to Saskatchewan’s $10-a-day childcare program
• Continued delivery of high-quality early learning environment focused on child development and school readiness
• Increased accessibility and affordability for families
• Greater financial sustainability for the organization

For decades, families have chosen RELC because of our experienced educators, play-based learning philosophy, strong focus on early childhood development, and commitment to preparing children for future success in school and life.

Preserving these values will remain a central priority.
