Regina Early Learning Centre (RELC) would like to provide clarity regarding recent questions about its preschool program and funding.

We want to reassure families and the community that all programs operated through the Regina Early Learning Centre are continuing to run as normal. This includes all services outside of the preschool program, which remain fully operational and supported.

The current financial challenge is specific to the preschool program, which is experiencing a shortfall in sustainable funding. This situation arose following the withdrawal of support from an anonymous private donor who had provided funding across Saskatchewan. This decision was outside of our organization’s control and was not related to any wrongdoing, misuse of funds, or operational concerns.

As part of our responsibility to ensure long-term sustainability, the difficult decision was made to discontinue transportation services at this time. The preschool program itself remains open and operational.

While the removal of transportation services will help reduce operational pressures, the preschool program continues to face a funding shortfall. At this time, we are actively exploring all possible options to support the long-term sustainability of the program. This includes continued discussions with government partners, community stakeholders, and we are also open to engaging with private sector and community benefactors who may wish to explore funding partnerships with us.

Our priority remains ensuring children and families continue to receive quality early learning supports, while also making responsible financial decisions to sustain services into the future.
