The Parents as Teachers (PAT) program supports parents in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher. It is available to families expecting a child and with children up to age three. Families receive regular visits from a qualified parent educator. During visits, parents learn about their child’s development and are introduced to play and literacy activities to support their child’s development.
Parents are also encouraged to participate in group programs with other parents. Parents are invited to attend both events specifically for PAT families and other group programming offered through the Family Outreach Program. Parents as Teachers is affiliated with the PAT National Centre.
Other program components include:
- Annual developmental screening
- Referrals to other services and/or programs in the community
- Active participants are eligible for priority registrations in the Regina Early Learning Centre’s Preschool program.
Enrollment capacity is 40 to 60 families.
