Communication addressing funding concerns
Communication addressing funding concerns
To Our Community,
We would like to take this opportunity to address some of the concerns and misinformation currently circulating on social media regarding our organization, funding, and programming.
First and foremost, we want to reassure families and community members that our EYFRC location on 5th Avenue, Kids First, and all Outreach Programs are not facing any operational changes and will continue operating as usual. We remain committed to supporting children and families in our community through early learning opportunities, family programming, resources, and supports.
There have been a number of comments suggesting that funding from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, or Ministry of Social Services was cut. This information is not accurate. These ministries have not cut our funding.
The funding loss our organization experienced came from an anonymous donor who made the decision to withdraw funding from Saskatchewan entirely. This decision was outside of our organization’s control and was not the result of any wrongdoing or actions by our staff or leadership.
These donor funds had previously been used to help supplement costs associated with the preschool program and transportation services. Unfortunately, due to the loss of this funding, along with rising costs related to insurance, fuel, and liability, transportation services had to be removed from the program at this time.
We understand how important these services are to families, and this was not a decision made lightly. We continue to actively seek funding opportunities, partnerships, and community supports to help sustain the preschool program and explore options for future service enhancements.
We are incredibly grateful for the support, concern, and encouragement we have received from families and community members. Our focus remains on providing safe, welcoming, and supportive programming for children and families in our community.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors
